Peatland mapping and monitoring: Recommendations and technical overview


This report presents commonly used peatland mapping methodologies – based on ground and remotely-sensed input data. It also offers an overview of advantages and limitations of different monitoring approaches as a practical guide to facilitate decision-making and cater for country-specific requirements, in order to ensure that emissions and emission reductions are measurable, reportable and verifiable. It also provides information on other benefits from peatland conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and sustainable management
