Gender is not about ‘women and girls’ but about roles, responsibilities, access, and control over resources and relations between men and women, boys and girls which are socially ascribed. It is also estimated that closing the gender gap would raise total agricultural output in developing countries by 2.5% to 4% and reduce the number of hungry people by 12% to 17% globally, the equivalent of 100 to 150 million people while neglecting it carries with it substantial costs. Gender in agriculture in relation to climate change actions and challenges is analyzed in this work.
