This study lays out the specific profiles, risks and vulnerabiities that disproportionally affect rural populations (poverty, hunger and malnutrition, poor health, natural disasters and climate change). This reoport sets out the main challenges that need to be addressed in order to extend social protection coverage to rural populations and illustrates how innovative solutions have been found in a variety of different contexts.
